Common Questions

Murchison Falls FAQ

How far is Murchison Falls from Kampala?
Murchison Falls National Park is approximately 305km from Kampala — about 4-5 hours by road. Most Tulambule safaris stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary en route, making it a comfortable full-day journey with wildlife sightings before you even arrive.
How many days do I need at Murchison Falls?
We recommend a minimum of 2 nights / 3 days to experience the park properly — one full day for game drives and one for the Nile boat cruise and falls hike. 3 nights allows a more relaxed pace and better wildlife sightings.
When is the best time to visit Murchison Falls?
Murchison Falls is excellent year-round. The dry seasons (December–February and June–August) offer easier game viewing as animals concentrate around water sources. The green season (March–May) brings lush scenery and excellent birding with fewer tourists.
Can I combine Murchison Falls with gorilla trekking?
Absolutely — and this is one of our most popular combinations. A 9-day Murchison Falls & Bwindi Gorilla Safari covers the Nile boat cruise, game drives, rhino tracking and gorilla trekking in one incredible trip. Contact us to plan your itinerary.
